My Mother’s Dress

We are just weak for these beautifully choreographed shots by White Cat Studio taken at the lovely Blackwater Castle in Cork featuring original vintage dresses by Bella Bleu Bridal. Especially since the dresses featured in the shoot were both pieces acquired by Bella Bleu from original bride, lovingly cared for and preserved to be re-loved and re-worn…

Ruth wore a 1960’s gown that has a personal connection for Bella Bleu owner Kate. Kate’s partner’s godmother Anne wore this dress to her own 1968 wedding in New York surrounded by Irish family and friends. When she passed away last year, Anne’s son Gerald knew that Anne would want Kate to make sure this unique piece was loved again back in her home of Ireland. When the dress sold earlier this year the proceeds were donated to The Donegal branch of The Diabetes Federation of Ireland in honour of Donegal native Anne.

The second piece hails from the 1970’s and is true boho gloriousness. “We had the pleasure of meeting a real gem of a mother of the bride when she visited our boutique with her daughter Marianne to choose her dress,” Kate explained. A few days later she returned with her own gorgeous dress a few days later and we were blown away. The dress was bought for her by her own mother at Cash’s of Cork once located at the now Brown Thomas building. It’s such a honour to have a piece of real Cork history at the store.

Love the additional styling, we heart these boys suits by Salinger’s and gorgeous something blue shoes by Amity Boutique
